Gudrun&Gudrun Faroe Islands

Shooting for The Observer Magazine this was one of my favourite commissions this year. Fashion Knitwear designers Gudrun and Gudrun (their Jumpers were famously worn by Sarah Lund in the hit Danish TV series ‘The Killing’) were perfect hosts to journalist Lucy Siegle and myself. Champions of what’s known as eco luxe, in which authenticity, craftsmanship and elegance are key, they opened up a world of family, friends and sheep!! that help define their brand. Many of the pictures were shot on the island of Koltur (number of inhabitants: two, and one is part time) during a hand-shearing harvest.
